Mid Summer Mudness Challenge 2012
In this, it’s third year, the Mid-Summer Mudness Run took place in the beautiful grounds of Bellurgan Park Estate, Co. Louth, on Saturday 23rd June. After the heavy midweek rain the course, approx. 5k in total of running/scrambling and general wallowing around the estate through forest, swamp lakes, mud holes and under cargo nets etc. And all agreed it was as mucky and as challenging as ever. These challenges the participants faced were an uplifting experience and it was a joy to watch them getting ‘stuck in’ !!!
Screams of fear/delight/shock, something or other, were heard from participants throughout the course under the watchful eye of fellow competitors, friends and race marshals as they finished the two lap course having a ball in doing so.
An excellent day out was had by both participants and spectators alike, after the thrills and spills, all enjoyed a post event food in the wooden structure on the estate.
Once again the event supported ‘The Birches’ Alzheimer’s Day Care Centre in Dundalk.
Well done to all who completed this year’s Challenge, many thanks to the Red Cross, Bellurgan Park Estate and all the volunteers who made the day so enjoyable for all.
Again, congratulations on completing the course alive on Saturday morning, you can be very proud of yourself and next year you may have the upper hand on all the newbie’s !
